Is Fallout 76 Worth Playing After Wastelanders?

Fallout 76 was kind of a dud with fans when it launched in 2018 — and Bethesda Softworks has made many improvements since then. Set a year after the initial events of Fallout 76, Wastelanders moves on from the trite story of the original game and imagines a West Virginia wasteland where people are returning to the mutated region and putting down roots. I'm not going to pretend to have mastered Fallout 76's somewhat convoluted perk card system, but in the early- to mid-game there are a few that are simply no-brainers.

I'll be updating these tips in the future as I spend more time with the game, but for now, here are some things you should be looking out for in the hours after you first climb out of Vault 76. I won't spoil it for those who haven't played them, but both games have you searching for lost family members.

The Wendigo Colossus was another addition that came with the summer season, and it also didn't immediately wow players. Tie it to some piece of content that players can do once in a while for a full reset if needed. Almost all other characters met by a player were those of other players at release.

Wastelanders represents the most significant improvement so far and while the overall experience is still deeply flawed there are clearly people enjoying it, and sometimes that's all that matters. This is video game the other side of Fallout 76, a semi-lawless state of nature where the people with the biggest sticks and the most junk set the tone.

And although Fallout 1st's price may compare to Minecraft Realms', it seems more outrageous when it goes up against something like Xbox Game Pass, which gives users access to over 100 digital games (including new releases) for $10 a month. To do this, simply navigate to the Social tab within the Menu screen, then select either the Recent, Team, or Friends categories to select a player from the list.

Fallout 76 is the technical if not spiritual prequel to the Fallout series by Bethesda Softworks, revolving around the survival in a world devastated by a Nuclear War twenty fives years prior, in which the player takes on the role of a Vault Dweller tasked with bringing civilization back to the Wasteland by any means necessary.
